Chartered on the 14th December 1991, The Rotary Club of Thorpe Bay (District 1240, Club 1765) is a mixed gender club, based near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Membership is currently around 30 members with a roughly 50-50 mix of male and female. The club prides itself on its track record of raising funds and supplying practical help for locally under-funded and "unfashionable" charities and causes such as Night Shelters, Women's Refuges, Social Breaks for the Carers of the Severely Handicapped, Local Hostels and Volunteer Services - and many more. The more popular causes, Local Hospices, Under-privileged Children, etc. are not left out either!
Thorpe Bay has always been strong as a "sporty" and fun loving club, partly because the average age is lower than many (just below 50) and partly because its mixed gender brings a liveliness into Rotary.
